21 Candles

Twenty One Years Of Life!

As with any twenty first birthday it will finally be legal for me to buy and cook with alcohol. Hurray for me!

However, many of you know, I have a gluten intolerance, which means I can not have beer, wine coolers, or cheap liquor. I can pretty much only have the "hard" stuff (or more expensive stuff), as a wiser friend of mine, Cassy, once explained.

What to do for my birthday? I can go party, not getting drunk, but having fun. Orrrr I can cook something...

Which is where I'm headed!!
I found a great recipe for Baked Apples in Buttered Brandy Sauce. And you better believe I'm licking my lips in anticipation :)

If you having any brandy suggestions comment below, or of you have experience cooking with wine, I'd love to hear your suggestions or favorite recipes!

Day Seven - Friday.

Day seven (Friday)

Woke up at 6:15 to say goodbye to all the kids that go to school, because we would leave at lunch. Had some oatmeal for breakfast :) packed for GG and finished up the shoes at haf Jacmel :)

Lunch was good, and having Ciesta with Macky never gets old. It was hard to say goodbye, but they're weren't any tears. It was hard saying goodbye to Zac, he's like the brother I only see once a year, it was so weird leaving with out him. Like how it was weird going with out Cameron.

The ride over hear to GG was a little car sicky, but not too bad. When we got here we had time to settle in, but then were off to see Be Like Brit and Montero Beach, it was wonderful. And on the way, Coland an I had some pretty good conversation, for me not knowing a lot of creole, he showed me where his school was, told me where we were going and "pweske la" (almost there) and taught me words for cow, chicken, rooster, pig, and duck! (like ducking from branches). He was so sweet.
The kids here are not as standoffish as I thought they would be, they're different than our Jacmel kids, but I love them and they know a lot more English than they'll let you know :) I'm pretty sure I'll be going home bald lol but I'm glad that they could have fun brushing and braiding my hair :)

The Mangos are possibly the most delicious mangos I've ever eaten!! Except for the mango strings that get stuck in every tooth! But they're so good!! And I'm so thankful for Annies rice that she remembered from Jacmel so we could have dinner :)

It's only 9:02 and I'm in bed, I can't believe it, earliest to bed ever. Not that I'm complaining :)

And I'm so thankful that I know who to sponsor. Love my baby Mackenson <3

God I pray for our trip tomorrow that you would keep us safe, and for the team coming in tomorrow, that you would bless their lives through this trip, and for all those in Jacmel, I love them all very much, and praise you for the heart you've given me for them. I love you and praise you, amen.
